Examining the Influence of Engineering Students’ Course Grades on Major Choice and Major Switching Behavior*
The need for science and engineering workers has raised concerns regarding the persistence of undergraduate students in engineering. Since academic institutions ordinarily provide studentswith feedback on course performance through grades, understanding the role of course grades in influencing student major choice and major switching behavior is critical. This research identifies factors associ...
متن کاملInvestigation of linear and non-linear estimation methods in highly-skewed gold distribution
The purpose of this work is to compare the linear and non-linear kriging methods in the mineral resource estimation of the Qolqoleh gold deposit in Saqqez, NW Iran. Considering the fact that the gold distribution is positively skewed and has a significant difference with a normal curve, a geostatistical estimation is complicated in these cases. Linear kriging, as a resource estimation method, c...
متن کاملFUZZY LINEAR PROGRAMMING WITH GRADES OF SATISFACTION IN CONSTRAINTS
We present a new model and a new approach for solving fuzzylinear programming (FLP) problems with various utilities for the satisfactionof the fuzzy constraints. The model, constructed as a multi-objective linearprogramming problem, provides flexibility for the decision maker (DM), andallows for the assignment of distinct weights to the constraints and the objectivefunction. The desired solutio...
متن کاملComparison of golden section search method and imperialist competitive algorithm for optimization cut-off grade- case study: Mine No. 1 of Golgohar
Optimization of the exploitation operation is one of the most important issues facing the mining engineers. Since several technical and economic parameters depend on the cut-off grade, optimization of this parameter is of particular importance. The aim of this optimization is to maximize the net present value (NPV). Since the objective function of this problem is non-linear, three methods can b...
متن کاملComparison of Attitude toward Attendance in Class Sessions and Grades of Courses for Students with and Without Absence
Introduction: The most important setting for teaching, specifically for difficult scientific topics, is classroom. Due to the uncertain results of previous investigations which are limited in number too, this study was implemented to compare attitude toward attendance in sessions and grades of associated courses for students with or without absence. Methods: In this descriptive longitudinal st...
